Monaco is set to announce Brazilian coach Filipe Luís as their new coach, but faces a bureaucratic hurdle that could result in significant fines. According to German TV station Sky Sport, the Brazilian coach still does not possess the UEFA Pro license, a mandatory certification for coaching teams in major European competitions. The absence of this license could lead the French club to pay a fine of around €28,000 per game where Filipe Luís is on the bench. Despite the financial risk, Monaco seems willing to accept the sanctions while the coach's situation is not regularized. Knowing they will play in the UEFA Conference League and if the young coach continues in the role until the end, the French may even exceed €1 million... just this season. The agreement between the parties is already sealed, foreseeing a contract valid until June 2028. This will be Filipe Luís' first experience as a head coach in Europe, a continent where he shone as a player for Atlético Madrid, after being sacked by Flamengo in March. The issue of the license, however, has already been a hurdle in other negotiations. Sky Sport reports that Bayer Leverkusen considered hiring the Brazilian, but backed off precisely due to this bureaucratic snag and has already announced Carles Martínez Novell, ex-Toulouse.
