Flamengo started its preparation in Portugal on Monday morning. Almost all players were on the field, with the exception of defender Léo Ortiz.

What happened?

The training was lighter, just to activate the players after the 9-hour trip to the European country. There was physical work, some collective exercises and little tactical work on the first day.

Why is this important for Flamengo?

Léo Ortiz's recovery is crucial for the team, which needs its starting defender for the next matches. The muscle injury in the back of the right thigh suffered in the victory over Coritiba is a problem for Flamengo.

What comes next?

Flamengo's delegation will be staying at a luxury hotel, the Cascade Wellness Resort, by the sea, where they will also train. The matches will be against River Plate, from Argentina, on July 3, Lausanne, from Switzerland, on July 8 and Benfica on July 11.
