Flamengo issued an official statement on their called-up players for the 2026 World Cup. Without mentioning the Uruguayan's name, the club says that the responsibility for the called-up players falls on the national teams. Flamengo informed that they sent detailed reports on the physical conditions of the players. The red-black will have nine players in the 2026 World Cup, reiterating that, during international commitments, they do not have operational ties with them. Hours after Arrascaeta's ankle injury was confirmed by the Uruguayan selection, which also guaranteed the midfielder's presence in the team that will compete in the World Cup, Flamengo issued an official statement on their called-up players. Without mentioning Arrascaeta in the statement, the red-black attributed total responsibility for the players to their respective national teams. "It is important to note that while they are integrated into the national teams, the players follow the program, protocols, and supervision of the technical commissions and medical departments of their countries. During this period, there is no operational link with Flamengo and it will continue until the return to the club, after the completion of international commitments", says a note excerpt. Flamengo also informs that they sent a complete report to the national teams with details that include the physical condition. The red-black will have nine of their players competing in the Cup: Danilo, Alex Sandro, Léo Pereira, and Paquetá (Brazil); Arrascaeta, De La Cruz, and Varela (Uruguay); Gonzalo Plata (Ecuador); and Carrascal (Colombia).
